Ingredients
6-7 Granny Smith Apples peeled, cored, and cubed
½ Cup Coconut Sugar (or Cane Sugar)
1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Nutmeg
½ tsp Sea Salt
3 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
For Topping:
1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Nutmeg
8 Tbsp Chilled Butter cubed
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°.
Lightly grease a 9x13 casserole dish.
Mix the apples, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt, and flour until all apples are coated.
Pour apple mixture into the prepared casserole dish.
To make the topping, in a medium bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg. Cut in the chilled butter cubes with a pastry blended or pulse in a food processor until combined.
Sprinkle the topping onto the apple mixture and bake for 35 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
Serve warm with a scoop vanilla ice cream. This dish is also delicious served cold with a dollop of homemade whipped cream.
